COVID-19 SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS
Keeping our patients and staff safe
Nothing is of greater importance than ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients and our team. Our response to the COVID-19 outbreak has been comprehensive and meticulous. We have upgraded our safety protocols to exceed what is recommended by:
the American Dental Association (ADA) and Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE),
the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA).
For those reasons, your experience at our new office will be different than it has been in the past.
We want to update you on the many steps we are now taking here at Kerrville Family Dental for your safety.
We understand that these new protocols are cumbersome, create additional work, and are somewhat inconvenient, but we greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to fight Covid19 and keep you safe.
Please see below for our new implemented procedures:
- State of the art Puradigm HEPA air purification and ionizing hydrogen peroxide particles https://www.puradigm.com/
- Chlorflexis Hypochlorous acid fogging (deep cleaning) done twice daily throughout the entire office, https://www.chlorfexis.com/
- Contactless thermometer used to take temperature of both staff and patients prior to entrance,
- Pulse oximeter to quickly and noninvasively measure oxygen levels and breathing ability,
- Hand sanitizer is readily available throughout the office,
- all surfaces: door handles, bathrooms, light switches, etc. thoroughly wiped down on hourly,
-Plexiglass shields have been installed at the reception desk and check out desk,
- Magazines, chargers, and toys have been removed to prevent cross contamination,
- Chairs in reception room are set apart at appropriate distances, and
-The number of patients allowed in the office at any one time, are limited
UPGRADED PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)
- N95/KN95 and surgical level masks for clinical team members
- Gowns/lab coats that are either disposable, or cleaned and sterilized
- Upgraded eye protection (goggles/face shields)
- Masks for administrative team members
- Concierge-level service providing “car-to-chair” check-in, via phone and texting (if requested).
- Prescreening form sent to patients prior to their appointment
- Ability to pay copayment online/over phone
- “Touchless” check out system (Apple Pay, self card insert, electronic receipts, etc.)
KERRVILLE FAMILY DENTAL APPOINTMENT PROTOCOLS
Scheduling Your Appointment:
We have made some adjustments to our scheduling system. Appointments will be longer in time to accommodate new check in procedures and for extra infection control measures. To allow for social distancing, we will stagger the start of appointment times, and reserve certain times for our patients who are high risk.
Before You Come In:
We will send you a short, pre-screening form that you are required to fill out and return to us before you come in. If you or anyone in your household has exhibited any of the following during the prior 14 days, please call us to reschedule your appointment: Cough • Fever • Flu-like symptoms • Gastro-intestinal issues • Sore throat • Loss of sense of smell or taste • Rash
Additionally, if you or a family member have traveled overseas, OR have potentially been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, we ask you to call our office to delay your appointment.
***Please reconfirm your insurance benefits with your employer. We are finding that many dental plans have changed as a result of recent events.
Day of Appointment:
Curbside Check-in: We ask you to arrive 5 minutes before your appointed time and text or call us from your car to tell us you have arrived. One of our team members will come to your car and escort you to the office where they will check your temperature with our “touchless” thermometer and reaffirm your answers on the prescreening form. If you have a temperature of over 100, we will ask you to postpone your appointment.
The extra care taken to properly complete our new prescreening and disinfection tasks is time consuming. For that reason, it is more important than ever for us to stay on schedule, and for our patients to arrive on time. If you will be more than 10 minutes late, you will need to reschedule your appointment. We will be strictly adhering to this policy. Please also be aware that your appointment length of time may be longer than previously, due to the new safety precautions we are implementing.
Please wear a mask to enter our office from your car. To promote social distancing and limit the number of people in our office at one time, we ask that you come to the appointment by yourself. One parent or caregiver is welcome to accompany a child or family member needing assistance.
Our team will be wearing more protective gear than you are accustomed to seeing. Scrubs, surgical gowns, face shields, and gloves will be worn to offer the highest protection possible. While unfortunately more impersonal and masking our smiles while speaking with you, please know that it’s all to keep everyone safe. Our smiles are still there under the masks, you’ll see it in our eyes!
Due to the increased PPE, the office may be set to a cool temperature to keep the team comfortable. We want you to be comfortable too, so please dress accordingly.
The exam room will be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized before you enter. We will ask that you apply hand sanitizer upon arrival and swish with a disinfectant rinse, such as Listerine, for 30 seconds before your appointment begins.
If you experience any symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days following your appointment, please call the office to alert us.
**While seemingly exhaustive, we want to keep you informed of everything we are doing to make your experience as safe as possible. This is all very new and strange - PLEASE don’t hesitate to ask us any questions at all! We want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
